The “Chicken Lady”

Mrs Diane (Di) Lunn was Chair of Market Lavington Parish Council when she died in 2010 aged just 46.

Di served on the Council from the mid 1990’s and promoted many projects in that time. Her enthusiasm, community spirit and personality inspired community engagement with all the projects she was involved in.

She was someone who had ideas and got on with the practicalities, her work within the community was much admired. Di championed the regeneration of part of the stream through Canada Woods where erosion was taking its toll. This work was completed after her death in 2011.

Martin Bodman completed the work alongside Councillor Mike Bridgeman.  Mike and Martin got together to create a memorial for Di who was known locally as ‘the chicken lady’.

She got this name by always  wearing a particular fabric bag across her shoulder where a stylized depiction of a chicken could be seen dancing along to her footsteps.

Everyone knew Di Lunn as the chicken lady and her memory and legacy lives on, especially  in Canada Woods.
