The Parish Council has been working for the past year with The Forestry Commission and a qualified Woodland Consultant to secure the future of Canada Woods by thinning and coppicing parts of the woodland. This has been designed to open the tree canopy to encourage new growth on the woodland floor and to provide habitat for birds, native wild flowers and wildlife that have all but disappeared from Canada Woods.
Trees for felling and coppicing have now been identified and marked by the Woodland Consultant. These trees have been identified for a variety of reasons and some, perhaps not obvious candidates, but have been carefully considered as part of the regeneration process. There is no specific date for the works although we hope this will be during the winter months. Confirmation of dates will be advertised on social media platforms and by notice boards within Canada Woods and beyond.
The Parish Council apologises for any inconvenience while work is going on but hope you understand the inconvenience will result in this community asset being protected for future generations to enjoy.
